HEP bulletin – August 2022
End of year cleardown
Please continue to prioritise any outstanding registration or attendance confirmations for academic year 2021/22 courses. You should follow up all registrations with an appropriate attendance confirmation. You should also clear your Change of Circumstance (CoC) worklists.
Please also check your worklists for any outstanding confirmations from previous years. If reassessment details are correct, you should reconfirm attendance in acceptance of the changes. If the details are not correct, you should submit a further CoC. It is important for student accounts to be as up to date as possible.
Bursary Administration Service
Automatic rollover of award rules and the new delete function
Following the deployment of the recent enhancement, all awards for academic year 2022/23 will be visible to providers, not just those already saved. You can edit, save, review and activate the awards in the same way as before.
We've also added a delete option to the awards list. If you no longer need an award, please delete it. If you realise you've deleted an award by mistake, you can still copy it from the previous year.
Bursary award housekeeping
You should fully review the criteria of each award and rationalise where possible. This will ensure you're not creating awards that generate no entitlement for your students. In academic year 2021/22, 37% of automated rules generated no entitlements.
Independent reason – under 25 and parents estranged
We've extended the option to search for and create awards based on specific independent reasons. These now include students who are under 25 and estranged from their parents. As a result, you can now create automated awards for this student group.
Self-service now available for Student Finance England and Student Finance Wales
Our new self-service system is live and available to all Student Finance England and Student Finance Wales undergraduate customers.
When customers sign in, they'll select which application they want to view. Our contact centre is very busy at the moment. Please remind your students they do not need to call us to track the progress of their application. It is quicker and easier to use their online account. They can also make changes to their course choice, requested fee amount as well as their personal information.
We've published a series of 'how to' films and step-by-step tutorials to help them.
Student information
You can view approved applications in SIS using the view student information option. It is good practice to check these before the start of the academic year. This will let you alert us to any delays in processing or, in some cases, make amendments to applications before the first day of term. You can use the appropriate pre-liability CoCs to change the tuition fee amount or receiving provider.
