HEP bulletin – April 2022

Registration and attendance confirmations

If you missed the 28 April deadline for submitting attendance confirmations for payment on 4 May, please continue to submit as soon as possible to receive payment on 11 May. It is important for student accounts to be as up to date as possible.

If you have any outstanding registration or attendance confirmations for 2021/22 courses, please submit them now. You should follow up all registrations with an appropriate attendance confirmation. You should also clear your Change of Circumstance (CoC) worklists.

Please check your attendance worklists for any outstanding confirmations from previous years, too. If reassessment details are correct, you should reconfirm attendance in acceptance of the changes made. This will let us release payments or recover overpayments. If the details are not correct, you should submit a further CoC.

Part-time undergraduate course collection

If you have not yet added all your part-time courses to our Courses Management Service (CMS), you should do so now. We expect the student application service to open for English, Welsh and Northern Irish students on 9 May.

You do not need to add courses that are only available to Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) students. They can already apply directly to SAAS.

Postgraduate course collection

You should also add your postgraduate master's and doctoral courses to CMS as soon as possible. Applications for Postgraduate Loans will open earlier this year. We expect the service to be available to students on 9 May.

Applications from EU students

EU students can now apply for full-time undergraduate finance for 2022/23 from Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales (SFW) and Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI).

SFE students should visit our EU student guide on GOV.UK to find out what funding is available in academic year 2022/23.

SFW students should visit our EU student guide on the SFW website.

SFNI students should visit the Student Finance Northern Ireland website to find out about funding.

Irish national students should visit the Who qualifies page on GOV.UK to see if they're eligible for full support.

Students can apply for funding even if they do not have a confirmed place on a course yet. They should give us the details of their preferred course and change it later if they need to.

Student finance for Scottish students

The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) offers help and support to Scottish students studying a course of higher education. This applies regardless of where in the UK they're studying.

If you need advice or guidance for supporting Scottish students, you can find information on the SAAS website. You can also visit the Student Information Scotland website which has a funding and budget calculator.

SAAS also has a dedicated area which provides a suite of resources for higher education providers. If you'd like to speak to someone from SAAS, you can find their contacts in the How Best to Contact Us document.

SAAS also uses a communication tool called Trickle. If you'd like access to this, please email Audrey Clark at audrey.clark@gov.scot.

We also have a dedicated webpage with guidance for students from Scotland. Feel free to bookmark this as it has a range of information we hope you'll find useful.

As a reminder, Scottish students should contact us for loan payment queries relating to payment dates, updating personal information, repayment information and when changing bank details. Students should call 0300 100 0609.

Student Support Seminar 2022

We were delighted with the attendance and participation at the Student Support Seminar on 7 and 8 April. This year we returned to a face to face event, hosted in Stratford-Upon-Avon. There was also an option to attend a more limited programme virtually. Our HEP Account Managers were joined by colleagues from across the Student Loans Company. In total, 350 higher education provider staff attended online and in person.

The presentations, videos and Q&A documents from the sessions will be available in the Events section of this website in the next couple of weeks.
