It's time for new and continuing full-time undergraduate students from England and Northern Ireland to apply for student finance. Please encourage your course applicants to do this as soon as possible.

Students do not need a confirmed place at university or college to apply. There’s no need to wait for UCAS offers. If they apply late, their money might be late too.

New students should apply using their preferred choice. They should be strongly encouraged to check their course on their application as soon as they accept your course offer. They can check and, if necessary, correct this on their online account.

We expect EU Tuition Fee only applications to open from April 2023.

Part-time undergraduate applications are expected to open from June 2023.

Student Finance England

Students should apply online. New students will need to create an account and continuing students should sign into their existing account.

Before students apply, they can check:

• what finance is available
• their eligibility
• our student finance calculator

To make sure students get their funding in place for the start of their course:

• new students should apply before Friday 19 May 2023
• continuing students should reapply before Friday 23 June 2023

Students can still apply after the deadline but might only receive the minimum amount of funding until we can fully assess their application.

Student Finance Northern Ireland

There’s lots of help available to support students while they study. This includes help with tuition fees and living costs. There’s also extra help for:

• students with a disability or long-term health condition
• students who have children or an adult who depends on them financially

Students should apply online. To make sure students get their funding in place for the start of their course:

• new students should apply before Wednesday 5 April 2023
• continuing students should reapply before Friday 30 June 2023

If they apply after this, they might get their money later than they expect.

Student Finance Wales

We expect full-time undergraduate applications for 2023/24 to open from April 2023.

Students can sign up to our mailing list and we’ll let them know when it’s time to apply.

Postgraduate applications

We expect Student Finance England and Student Finance Wales master’s and doctoral funding applications to open from May 2023.

Student Finance Northern Ireland master’s funding applications are expected to open from June 2023.
