Provider eligibility

To participate in the higher education short course trial, providers had to submit proposals as part of the Office for Students (OfS) Challenge Competition.

To be eligible for the trial, providers must be based in England and be registered with OfS.

22 providers were successful in their bids. These providers can now offer courses funded by the HE Short Course Loan for the duration of the trial period.

The short courses offered must meet Department for Education requirements for:

• definition
• level of study
• duration
• course subjects
• credit value
• fee charged
