HE Gateway user authentication updated in November

Please check your HE Gateway user details.

18 October 2019

The first step of the update will be to send all users an email with instructions to reactivate their accounts. This email will go to the email address you have registered on User Administration on the HE Gateway user list. It will include a new, temporary password for your account that you can change once you have signed in.

What you need to do as an HE Gateway user

Contact the HE Gateway administrator at your university or college and ask them to check that your email address is up to date on the HE Gateway User Administration menu option. Otherwise, you will not receive the reactivation instructions or password. If this happens, you will not be able to access CMS, SIS or the Bursary Administration Service once the update is complete.

If you do not have the user administrator role, you will not be able to see the User Administration tab when you sign in to the HE Gateway. You should instead contact the user administrator at your university or college and ask them to update your email address for you.

What you need to do as a User Administrator

If you have the user administrator role in the HE Gateway, you will be able to edit the email addresses for yourself and your colleagues.

  1. Sign in to the HE Gateway.
  2. Go to the HE Gateway Home menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Select User Administration.
  4. Find the user whose details you want to edit, then select Edit to see the Profile
  5. Edit the user's details as necessary on the Profile and following screens.
  6. Select Submit when done.

You should also expire the accounts of any users who no longer need access to the system. You can find further information in the 'Administering Existing Users' and 'Removing User Access' quick guides.
